Grade Five Felted Slipper Sock Pattern
$2.00
This is the pattern I used when making socks with my fifth graders. The bulky yarn it calls for makes the fiddly parts – the heel turn and gusset especially – much easier to deal with. It also means that almost all students finish their socks during the school year (the quickest knitters will be done before Christmas!)
I love how these socks turn out, too. They’re big, colorful, and floppy and I love wearing mine around the house in the winter. My students did an adorable assembly at the end of the year in which they all wore their socks on their hands and they moved and spoke Pablo Neruda’s Ode to My Socks.
I also share a few words about how I run my handwork classes.
It’s a great pattern. I can’t say enough about it.
