Waldorf Sixth Grade Painting
I've mentioned before that art is not really my strong suit. There was a time when I dreaded my weekly painting classes and they took a lot out of me as I prepped each painting (often painting it ahead of time several times until I got it just right.)It's hard for me even to imagine that now, though, because I just love painting with my class. This year I've traded with another teacher in the school and I am teaching middle school choir and in exchange he is teaching painting to my class. My students are thrilled to have another teacher for a change, especially one whose specialty is art.But I still miss painting with them. So, every now and then, I plan on grabbing a few extra moments to paint with them. A couple weeks ago we painted what became the cover inside of our binders and I love how they turned out.Not the greatest photo, but the painting is just beautiful! With this painting, as with so many others, I relied heavily on pulling off paint to create form, rather than painting it on. We covered the paper with ultra-marine blue, then added prussian and a hint of red at the bottom and around the sides. We then used a combination of pulling off paint to create white and adding the dark mauve color to create the crystals. So pretty. And perfect for our first painting of the year.
