Block Switch Weekend

Friday we finished up our Rocks and Minerals block. My busiest weekends are the ones when I am switching from one block to another. There's a lot that goes into wrapping up the old block and preparing for the new one. I've found a nice little weekend rhythm for this work. Rhythm just makes everything easier. Here are my block switch weekend tasks:Saturday (mostly at home)

  • Write block summary
  • Correct block tests
  • Go through main lesson books and fill out main lesson book evaluation forms
  • Prepare new block outline (if not done over the summer)
  • Return/check out library books
  • Prepare new content for new block (at least through first week and a half)
Sunday (mostly at school)
  • New chalkboard drawing
  • General tidying
  • Prepare new artistic/movement work
  • Get new main lesson books ready
  • Do title page in main lesson book
  • Write dictation
