Handmade School Supplies

Every year when the school supplies ads run, like many of my students, I’m filled with some bittersweet emotions. I’m sad that summer is coming to a close, but, man, I sure love school supplies!Over the years I’ve moved much more towards the quality end of the spectrum, rather than quantity. I like to think that I have a finely developed palate for school supplies. (I recently posted about my fondness for Rhodia Rhodiarama notebooks that I plan to use for my daily lesson plans.)This year, I’ve discovered the “handmade” section of Amazon’s website. Oh my. My devotion to beautiful, high-quality supplies is being nourished and strengthened this year! Here are some of my favorites.Leather and Canvas Backpack/Rucksack – Using smaller notebooks and dedicating myself to not carrying my computer to school every day, I think this beautiful backpack could work! Here’s another, slightly larger, backpack.A waxed canvas lunch tote!. Love!A wooden desk caddy with a rustic, engraved quote.A cute geometric pencil case.An iPad mini and Moleskine cover. I love this! This year I'm going to do my best to complete most of my correcting and grading at school, so I won't be bringing stacks of books home with me. Hopefully it'll be my iPad mini, two little notebooks and probably a resource book in my bag every day. Yay for back and shoulder health!
