The Art of Classroom Management: A Practical Guide for Waldorf Teachers
A calmer, more connected classroom comes from knowing what to pay attention to—and having practical ways to make things better.
Classroom management is one of the most challenging parts of teaching. And I don’t know about you, but it’s not something that was covered in my teacher training. Since then, I’ve learned that even with a beautiful lesson plan and good intentions, things don't always go as I hope. And sometimes, by the end of the day, I was left wondering what I could have done differently.
If any of that sounds familiar, this guide is for you.
I’ve learned some things the hard way after more than 20 years of classroom teaching and experience mentoring Waldorf teachers. So I created The Art of Classroom Management to help you understand what's happening in your classroom and make thoughtful, manageable changes.
Rather than offering a rigid system of rules and consequences, we'll explore the three foundations of effective classroom management. (Because despite what your teacher training instructor may have said, you can’t rely on your students goodwill and your own enthusiasm alone.)
Rhythms & Routines: Create predictable structures that help your classroom days flow more smoothly.
Engagement: Design lessons that invite students into active, meaningful participation.
Discipline: Establish clear expectations, respond consistently, and build a classroom culture rooted in connection and respect.
What's Included
The Art of Classroom Management — Main Guide
An approachable, in-depth exploration of classroom management through the lens of Waldorf education, with practical guidance for making changes that last.
The Classroom Management Toolkit — 35 Printable Pages
A beautifully designed collection of cheat sheets, classroom audits, reflection exercises, and planning templates to help you put the ideas into practice.
The Two-Week Classroom Reset — Bonus Guide
A gentle, step-by-step plan for figuring out what's not working, choosing a few meaningful changes, and building momentum over two weeks.
Made for Real Classrooms, Including Yours
You don't need to change everything at once. In fact, some of the most effective changes are surprisingly small. And it’s those small changes that make things stick.
Whether you're a new Waldorf teacher finding your footing or an experienced teacher looking for a fresh perspective, these resources will help you approach classroom management with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.
You don't need a perfect classroom. You need a classroom that works for you and the children in front of you.
