Classroom Management Is a Skill You Can Learn (Plus, My New Guide!)
I'm convinced that classroom management is one of the most challenging parts of teaching—and one of the things we spend the least amount of time learning in Waldorf teacher training.
I know because I struggled with it myself. A LOT!
When I first started teaching, I had a hard time stepping into my role as the authority in the classroom. I thought that if I could just make my lessons interesting and engaging enough, everything else would fall into place.
Over time, I discovered that effective classroom management isn't just about being naturally authoritative or having some incredible intuition. It's something we can learn, practice, and get better at.
In this episode, I'm sharing the three pillars of classroom management that have shaped my teaching and mentoring work:
Rhythm, routine, and structure: Creating a predictable, supportive environment where students know what to expect.
Engagement: Helping students become active, enthusiastic participants in their learning.
Discipline: Explicitly teaching the skills and expectations that help children take responsibility for themselves and their classroom community.
These three elements work together to create a classroom where meaningful learning can happen.
Introducing My New Classroom Management Guide!
I'm so excited to share something I've been working on for quite a while: my new Waldorf Classroom Management Guide!
I created this resource to give teachers the practical support I wish I'd had when I was starting out. It's designed to help you understand what's happening in your classroom, identify what needs attention, and make meaningful, sustainable changes.
The guide includes three downloadable resources:
1. The Classroom Management Guide
An in-depth exploration of the three pillars of classroom management, with practical strategies you can begin using right away.
2. The Classroom Management Toolkit
35 pages of printable classroom audits, reflection exercises, checklists, and planning templates to help you put those strategies into practice.
3. The Two-Week Classroom Reset
A practical, ten-school-day plan for identifying what's not working, introducing new routines and expectations, and building momentum toward a calmer, more productive classroom.
Special Introductory Price!
To celebrate the launch, I'm offering the complete guide for $39 (regularly $49) for the first two weeks!

And if you know another Waldorf teacher who could use some encouragement and practical support, please share this episode or the guide with them!
My goal with A Waldorf Journey has always been to support teachers in doing this important work. Because when teachers have the tools and support they need, they can bring their best to the children in their care.
