Oh, Norse Mythology — the classic 4th grade block. The exciting stories of Odin, Thor and Loki absolutely delight and excite those 9- and 10-year-olds! We had such a great time listening to and working with these stories!
My Norse Mythology work is split up into three sections and this is the first. This three-week block took place during the month of October and the timing was just perfect. The three norns took on a spooky witchiness and the students had a lot of fun learning a Halloween poem that somehow seemed to match up with the content perfectly.
We were learning entirely online for this block, though I didn’t find that this format interfered with our typical main lesson rhythm. If we had been in person we might have been able to take up more projects or perform our poems for friends and family, but we worked through the content and felt just as immersed in the material as ever.
