Never would I have guessed that the sixth grade Rocks and Minerals block would turn out to be one of my favorite blocks in the entire Waldorf curriculum! In fact, this was one of the blocks that had me (born and raised in the concrete jungle of Southern California) shaking in my sneakers. So many of my colleagues seemed to have a natural knack for rocks, being able to casually pick one up and identify its origin. To me, a rock was a rock.
Teaching this block made me a complete convert, though. The world of rocks and minerals is endlessly fascinating! Did you know that if you can read rocks you can learn the history of the earth?! Incredible!
